How ADVATx Treats Acne

Diagram showing how ADVATx laser targets acne-causing bacteria and skin inflammation at NeuLogics in Mount Pleasant near Charleston, SC

ADVATx delivers two therapeutic wavelengths (589 nm and 1319 nm) to treat acne from multiple angles:

  • The 589 nm wavelength targets sebaceous gland inflammation and reduces visible redness by coagulating superficial vessels and suppressing inflammatory pathways—making it effective for red, inflamed, or cystic breakouts.
  • The 1319 nm wavelength penetrates deeper to reduce oil (sebum) production, support dermal remodeling, and improve overall skin tone and texture.

Together, these wavelengths help to calm active lesions, reduce acne-causing bacteria (P. acnes), and prevent future breakouts, while also fading residual redness from past flares. ADVATx is non-ablative, non-purpuric, and requires no downtime—making it ideal for patients who want visible results without disruption.

Many patients notice a reduction in inflammation and redness after the first treatment, with clearer skin typically building over 4–8 weeks.

Yes. ADVATx is a gentle and effective option for teens, especially those looking to avoid antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide, or isotretinoin.

The treatment feels like concentrated warmth, often compared to the sensation of sitting close to a campfire. Most patients tolerate it well without the need for numbing.

While ADVATx is primarily used for active acne and redness, its collagen-stimulating properties can also soften early scarring and improve overall skin texture. For deeper acne scars, we may recommend combining it with PRP microneedling.

Your provider will review your routine and make recommendations. Many patients benefit from simplifying their regimen to optimize results and minimize irritation.
